February is Heart Health Month!

Flowers, hearts, red and pink, chocolate..It must be February! The month known as LOVE month.

As important as Valentine's Day is, your heart is so much more important. Every beat, every ounce of blood, every single cell and action of your body has something to do with this vital organ in your body. As Community Health Workers we have a position to educate the community on the importance of taking care of their health...A MAJOR DEAL. It can be overwhelming for some, but I would like to give you a few tips to share with friends and family this February as you try and encourage others to take care of their heart.

1. Get Moving!! 30 minutes/ 5 times a week of moderate exercise is good. Start walking, strength training and dancing for some cardio!

2. Eating clean! Instead of those chips try a healthy piece of fruit or smoothie, granola bar.

3.Take a moment to breathe! Decompress and take time for yourself in your day. Meditate and practice deep breathing and focus.

Hopefully these tips are helpful for you and the clients that you are educating and teaching in the community!

Have a great Healthy February!
